Meetings will be on first and third Tuesdays as usual in 2008. We will meet at 1700 hrs as
usual until further notice. The first Tuesday will be devoted to departmental business,
guidelines,
SOP’s, and organizational matters. The third Tuesday will be dedicated to hands-on
training. March, April and May will be devoted to a series of sessions geared toward
SCBA skills development. Even if you are not an interior firefighter, there will be skills
development for you, as well.
We will be attending the training facility in March, April and May and later in September,
October and November to do live-fire training evolutions.
Pumper training will continue on Wednesday’s at 0830 hrs. It will geared toward trouble-
shooting. Pump operators will identify the problem to overcome and implement a solution
using our equipment. Pump drills in October and November will focus on ONS needs.
Third Tuesday Training:
March 18 –1700 hrs – SCBA – low profile and cylinder change out
April 15 –1700 hrs —SCBA—Changing cylinder or regulator in a toxic environment
May 20 –1700 hrs —SCBA—Using thermal imagers and search lines
June 17 –1700 hrs —SCBA—Approaching downed firefighter or victim, lifts and carries
July 15–1700 hrs —Ladders—Laddering for entry or secondary egress
August 19–1700 hrs —Ladders—Removing victims via ladders
September 16 – 1700 hrs – Ladders – Advancing hoselines up ladders and to upper floors
October 21 – 1700 hrs – Hoselines – Handling and advancing hoselines in single family dwelling
November 18 – 1700 hrs -- Hoselines – Handling and advancing hoselines multifamily dwelling
